The Capital city is blessed with various sites of interest: Panama la Vieja , ruins of the very town ever built on the Pacific Coast and listed in the year 2003 as UNESCO universal patrimony . The tower of the cathedral, many churches as well as well preserved convents and a History Museum .

The modern city, with its skyscrapers, its banking area, its commercial centers offers a breathtaking contrast with colonial Panama . In the Casco Antiguo or as it is also called Casco Viejo district , you will find a mixture of French, Italian and Spanish colonial architecture, a place where it feels good strolling along. The colonial area listed as UNESCO universal patrimony in 1997, is undergoing a total renovation.

Facing the Bay of Panama exists an ideal spot to take a walk, admire the landscape and have a drink. This place is called the « Cause Way ». Its 3 km long dike joins the islands of Naos, Perico and Flamenco and you will find there a great many number of bars, restaurants, discotheques, Arts and Crafts boutiques, as well as duty-free shops. Finally, the first set of locks of the Canal of Panama , Miraflores is located a few kilometers away from the city, a small gem of engineering that should not be neglected .
